Description

These are models for the RainBird 3500 rotor irrigation's nozzles.

Unfortunately RainBird does not sell the nozzles for this specific model on a standalone basis. So if its lost then a full new rotor is required. In order to overcome this issue, I modelled new once.

These have properties pretty close to the originals, please see pictures. However, they are not 100%. Its very difficult to measure the size of small details as well as keep the model rather easily printable.

Printing

The orientation of the stl model needs to be turned 180 degree before printing (bottom of the nozzle should be touching the build plate). The print will require support, touching buildplate. Best results achieved with normal support. I used Cure 5.4.

Also the nozzle has small details that are necessary to be accurately printed so in order to have a very good result a low resolution is recommended (the lowest available, I used an Ender 3 and 0.08 mm layer height). Also I recommend 0.2 nozzle.

If the print is not accurate enough it may change the irrigating properties of the nozzle and not deliver the expected specs.

Parametric model

If one wants to make changes I uploaded the parametric design as well. Please note that 90% of the dimensions are driven by the nozzleWidth variable. Below is a table that corresponds to the numbers on the RainBird 3500 nozzles

RainBird NumbernozzleWidth
0.752.2mm
12.7mm
1.53.2mm
23.7mm
34.2mm
44.7mm

However, I was not able to make the two inner slopes properly dependent so that needs manual adjustment (remapping plains and fix some sketches and extrusions). Its not that complicated actually.
