Aliens APC Full 1:18 Scale Build With Interior

1:18 Scale Aliens APC build completely FDM printable with an improvised interior (closely based off the original).

 

As I am sure you are aware this was not an easy, straight forward project and took a lot of time and test prints to get to this point so any boosts are greatly appreciated.

The print settings used in the 3MF file was how I personally printed the whole model. I did choose to sand down and hand paint mine but you can easily just print this whole thing using just the colour of your filament.

 

Features a rotating roof mounted turret that can also be stowed on the back.

 

I have taken the time to provide some instructions for this build since there are many parts.

 

A couple of additional components you will need are…. 

 

M5 Bolt of any length between 15-25mm.

M3 Socket Head of any length between 8-20mm.

 

I also recommend using a clear filament for the windows and lights components as labelled on the build plates.

EXTERIOR BUILD…

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

PLEASE DO NOT GLUE DOWN THE ROOF PANEL (HIGHLIGHTED IN YELLOW ABOVE).

ONLY GLUE ON THE FIRST RAIL FOR NOW.

 

 

 

 

SCREW IN THE M5 BOLT FROM THE UNDER SIDE OF THE TURRET MOUNT, THIS WILL BE USED TO CONNECT THE TURRET IN THE NEXT STEP.

 

 

 

 

NOW THE TURRET IS FULLY ASSEMBLED AND IN PLACE YOU CAN INSERT THE REMAINING RAIL WHICH WILL LOCK IN THE TURRET MOUNT.

 

 

 

 

 

 

WHEEL ASSEMBLY…

 

WHEEL ASSEMBLY CROSS-SECTION.

 

 

 

 

THE YELLOW COMPONENT SHOULD BE GLUED DOWN TO THE GREEN COMPONENT ON THE REAR SIDE AS SHOWN IN THE NEXT IMAGE. THIS WILL ALLOW THE WHEELS TO REMAIN FREE TO ROTATE.

 

FINALLY GLUE DOWN THE FRONT FACE WHILST ENSURING THE INTERNAL COMPONENT IS STILL FREE TO ROTATE. THIS IS THE WHEEL ASSEMBLY COMPLETE, REPEAT THIS X4.

 

 

 

GLUE DOWN ALL THE 4 WHEELS TO THE EXTERIOR BODY INTO THE CUTOUTS.

 

 

 

EXTERIOR ASSEMBLY COMPLETE.

 

 

 

INTERIOR ASSEMBLY…

 

INSERT THE REAR INTERIOR SECTION FIRST BY DROPPING IN THE MIDDLE AND SLIDING TOWARDS THE BACK.

 

 

 

NOW INSERT BOTH OF THE MIDDLE INTERIOR SECTIONS USING THE SAME METHOD AS BEOFRE (ONE AT A TIME).

 

 

 

INSERT THE FRONT INTERIOR SECTION BY SIMLPY DROPPING IN FROM THE TOP.

 

 

 

INSERT THE FIRST TWO MIDDLE FLOOR PANELS BY DROPPING IN THE CENTRE AND SLIDING THEM TO EACH SIDE UNTIL THEY CAN GO NO FURTHER. THIS SHOULD LEAVE ENOUGH ROOM IN THE CENTRE FOR THE FINAL PANEL TO BE PLACED IN THE UPCOMING STEPS.

 

 

 

ASSEMBLE THE FINAL SEAT LIKE SO. INSERT THE M3 SCOKET HEAD ON THE UNDER SIDE OF THE GREEN COMPONENT AND SCREW ONTO THE RED. THIS WILL ALLOW THE CHAIR TO ROTATE. ONCE THE CHAIR IS FULLY ASSEMBLED, PUSH IT INTO THE LEFT SIDE FLOOR PANEL AS SHOWN IN THE NEXT IMAGE.

 

 

INSERT AND GLUE DOWN THE FINAL FLLOR PANEL TO LOCK EVERYTHING IN PLACE.
