Advanced Filament Cutter - Beginner Kit Compatible!

This filament cutter is superior to all others. It requires little hardware and assembly and is a breeze to put together. Why did I make it? Well, I started this design when I realised that all other filament cutter models on Maker World required too much hardware for someone to purchase just one print, or were incredibly weak and unreliable.

✨Features:

• Automatic Reset Mechanism – A single rubber band powers the cutting arm to spring back open after each cut, making it ready for the next use with no manual reset required.
• Beginner-Friendly Assembly – Only a few simple parts and minimal hardware are needed. If you can build IKEA furniture, you can assemble this!
• Minimal Hardware Required – No complicated screws or custom parts, just a blade and a basic rubber band (both included in most beginner kits or easy to find).
• Strong, Reliable Cuts – Designed for consistent performance using a standard Bambu filament cutter blade, it slices cleanly and efficiently.

🛠️Assembly:

 

⚠️ Caution: Handle the blade with care during assembly to avoid injury.

1. Insert the blade into the main cutting arm

2. Add the cutting arm cover to secure the blade in place

   – Set the Cutting arm aside – 

3. Attach the rubber band to the inside of the main body
4. Pull the rubber band tight and attach it to the cutting arm
5. Add the main body cover to hold everything in place

IF you find that the handle is getting stuck and not automatically resetting, take your Bambu Scraper to the underside of the main body where the supports were and clean that area up from any leftover support material

 

🏗️Required Hardware:

• Filament Cutter (a spare comes with Bambu Printers, or purchase on Maker's Supply)

• 1.4x20mm Basic Rubber Band (Comes in Maker's Beginner Kit)

  Other rubber bands lying around your house may also work, but I have not tried.

⚠️ Note: If you already own the Maker’s Beginner Kit, you do not need to purchase separate rubber bands. Likewise, if you already have suitable rubber bands at home, the Beginner Kit isn’t required.

 

 

After that, get to cutting! It's that easy!
