Quick-Latch Storage Box

📝 Overview

This is a functional, minimalistic storage box with a quick-slide latch mechanism and a hinged lid. Perfect for storing small items, tools, or electronics, it’s fully mechanical — no screws, springs, or electronics required. Designed with ease of 3D printing in mind, it prints as a single unit with just a bit of support removal and a filament pin for the hinge.

Whether you're organizing your desk, workshop, or just enjoy clever mechanical designs, this box is both practical and fun to assemble!

📦 Dimensions

  • Width: 150 mm
  • Height: 60 mm
  • Depth: 80 mm

🖨️ Print Settings

  • Printer type: FDM
  • Supports: Yes (minimal, for hinge and latch)
  • Layer height: 0.2 mm recommended
  • Material: PLA, PETG or similar
  • Infill: 15–20% is sufficient

🔧 Assembly Instructions

  1. Print the model with supports enabled (especially around the hinge and latch area).
  2. Carefully remove the supports after printing.
  3. To assemble the lid:
    • Locate the hinge holes on the box and the lid.
    • Use a short piece of 1.75 mm filament as a hinge pin.
    • Slide it through the holes to connect the lid to the body.
    • Trim any excess filament.
  4. Test the slide latch mechanism — it should move smoothly and lock the lid in place.

No glue, screws, or extra parts needed — just your printer and a filament scrap!

💡 Why You'll Love It

  • 🔒 Secure quick-latch closure
  • 🧩 All-mechanical design
  • 🖨️ Easy to print and assemble
  • 🎁 Great gift, desk box, or print project for beginners and tinkerers
