This legendary twin-engine supersonic fighter was designed in the USA at a time when the sky was the place for strength, courage and technological supremacy. With a speed of over Mach 2, the ability to carry tons of bombs and missiles, and a look you'd recognise on the horizon, the Phantom II has become a legend in all three branches of the US military: Navy, Air Force and Marines.

But the F-4 was not just a weapon. It was also a leap forward in aviation technology: the first US fighter to exceed Mach 2, one of the first with radar for target acquisition, and a pioneer in the use of missiles as a primary weapon.

Today, he is almost gone from active service, but he still flies - as a historical reminder, as part of airshows, and as a reminder that there was once an aircraft that exceeded expectations, outshined the enemy and inspired the future.
