Description

This is my first design. It is a model of The Chosen Fish, from the intro to the TV series ‘The Chosen’. In case anyone is interested, the blue fish is meant to symbolise Jesus and His followers going against the current ('societal norms').

I have included two print profiles; one includes a keyring design and the other includes designs for different sized magnets. I used the Smooth Plate for this model as it leaves a much cleaner bottom layer, however of course it can be printed on the Textured Plate.

Also, even with the Smooth Plate, this model doesn't require any brims. The initial layer speeds in both profiles have allowed for perfect adhesion for me on 10+ test prints, or in other words, every print I have done with no brim has stuck down perfectly.

I tried many different ironing settings before landing on the ones in these profiles. These seem to be working great for me on the A1, however it may vary on different printers, I am not sure if the ironing effects will differ from printer to printer.

As for colours, I have used BambuLabs PLA Turquoise and Silver. The turquoise I think works very well, and the Silver is also good, however if you have access to a darker grey, that would be more in line with the actual fish in the intro of the series.

The Keyring Model:

I used the keyrings available on BambuLab's Maker's Supply site (included in the BoM below). The profile includes a pause at Layer 24, which after multiple tests, I have found to be the ideal height to clip in the keyring. I don't secure the keyring down to the plate. They have not left any marks on my Smooth Plate in all the testing I have done, but they do move around a bit of course. You could try to secure them down, but the one time I tried to secure them down, I used a bit of masking tape and the keyring fused together slightly (the large ring which separates to allow for attaching the keyring to something). So I would recommend just to leave it unsecured.

**If you are concerned with even the slightest chance of scratching the plate, putting some masking tape on the plate beneath the keyring is probably a good idea. If the keyring can move around it is less likely to deform on account of the heat.

The Magnet Model:

I have made 3 different magnet sizes. The one I would recommend is the 12x3mm magnet from Maker's Supply because it is the strongest. However if you don't have that size, I have placed different sizes (8x2 and 6x2) on different plates in the Magnet Profile. These sizes will still stick to things but obviously not as well, given their size. The pause for the 12x3 is at Layer 29, and the pause for the others is at Layer 31. I moved these ones up closer to the top so that they are still able to stick to things. Full transparency, I don't have 6x2mm magnets yet so I have only been able to test the other two magnet sizes, but the tolerances are all the same so the 6x2mm should also fit just fine. (I will get 6x2mm magnets soon and make an edit to this post to either change or confirm the model. If someone else is willing to try it out before I get the chance, paint the model in 1 colour to print, will waste less filament and take less time, and please let me know.)
