Description
Figured I'd take a swing at recreating a HIMARS. Â I did my best based on the reference pictures I could find on the internet. Â Current scale is only 60 percent of what I envisioned but came out great. Â If you elect to print the nerf versions of the rocket tubes you will need to source some small springs for the buttons and then some larger springs for the tubes. Â I tested with handyman sp-9705 springs for standard nerf darts in the 6 shot tube (work great but need to cock with a marker or something) and handyman sp-9713 spring with nerf mega xl dart in the single shot tube (this was a little overkill and hard to cock) Â Otherwise just print the non nerf version. Â It is designed so that you can remove the Crane assembly to swap out your Rocket Tubes then re-assemble and it all holds tightly together. Because of the scale and my lack of print volume I split several pieces into smaller chunks (The frame is split in 3, the launcher is 2, the crane assembly is 3, etc) But I indexed everything so it should fit together nicely just reference the images to determine where pieces are supposed to go. Â The Launcher can incline to roughly 45 degrees and it can swivel as well. Â All the wheels also spin. Â I printed on a FlashForge adventurer 5m because I'm deployed and that's all I have access to, just take into consideration the orientation you print the parts in for maximum strength. Â I tried to group the parts together by numbering them so it isn't as hard to figure out how it all fits. Â Certain pieces you will need to make copies of to get enough as the STL may only have 1 item in it. Â Overall I used just over a spool of filament. Â Enjoy!
