Description

Become the terror of your next outdoor event! CyberBrick components make it easy to build this powerful water gun turret that can be fully remote controlled. The turret can spin indefinitely (in addition to aiming up and down) and can shoot up to 7.5 meters!

Try hiding the controller in your pocked so that people don’t know who’s controlling it - you can even have the turret move its head to answer ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to questions.

I owe big credit to Ozarkexpeditions who created an amazing rubber band turret for CyberBrick. Seeing that project inspired me to build my own spin on a turret.

Before You Begin

  • The water tank is intended to both supply water to the device but also to act as a weight/counterbalance to the torrent movements - that's why it's quite large & densely printed.
  • A custom model for a one-handed controller is included but the official Bambu controller will also work with its default configuration.
  • If bringing this toy to a water gun fight, it’s important to remember that the internal components are not waterproof. It’d be a good idea to ask others not to shoot the turret with water!
  • The water blaster is fairly loud! Check out this video to make sure you know what you're in for:

Components

This project is now available as a kit from Maker's Supply! Because the project doesn't use all of the components from the CyberBrick beginners kit, you'll even have some leftover components that you can use in future projects. This diagram shows what you will and won't need from the kit.

Assembly Instructions

The PDF attached below includes photos and step-by-step instructions for assembling the project and configuring the controller. Each step includes a link to a video showing the assembly process. In addition to the parts listed in the bill of materials, you’ll need both Phillips and hex screwdrivers, super glue, electrical tape (optional), side cutters (or scissors) along with some twist ties (which should come with your servos).

The full video version of the assembly process can be viewed here. Please enable the closed captions on the video for written instructions that can be translated:

Configuring the Controller

You can use the WaterTurretController_V1.json controller configuration in the Cyber Brick app to configure the controller. The controls are fairly basic in the interest of fitting them into this custom controller design. However, the controls can easily work with the official Cyber Brick controller - the joystick and button are mapped to the same ports as in that configuration.

To configure your components with the app, you can follow these instructions. Although this recording uses Android, the steps should be the same in iOS.

Printing & Post-Processing Tips

  • Using a Smooth PEI plate for this print will produce the best results because parts are oriented to print out outwardly-visible faces.
  • As photographed, I printed all parts in  Bambu PETG HF. Through the testing process, I also printed the parts in Bambu PLA Basic. Because this is an item that is used outdoors, I believe that PETG is the best choice.
  • For safety reasons, please use bright, non-realistic colors so that it’s clear that this print is a toy.
  • Not suitable for children under 13 years old. Minors should be supervised by an adult when playing the CyberBrick toys.

Updates

  • 1/27/26: further updates to improve the controller & slight change to the barrel attachment for a better fit.
  • 1/13/26: modified the controller to use a rechargeable lithium ion battery instead of the AAA battery pack
    • This update improves the longevity and reliability of the battery.
    • The original AAA model is still available under a separate print profile if you've already ordered those components.
