Swing Box - Modern & elegant desk storage

I was searching for a slightly bigger storage solution for my daily desk stuff and finally designed one by myself.

This storage box comes with a outer box in a sleek and modern appearance. Inside comes a inlay, you can choose from two different inlays. On top is a open tray for the more needed things - and if you want, there is also a tray with a little ring compartment.

For this box you will need

• 50 mm steel rod with 5 mm diameter
• M5 washer with 2mm height and max. 10 mm outer diameter (I used 2x washers, each 1 mm height)
• Optional: insert 4 magnets (8 x 3 mm), 2 in the box shell and 2 in the tray - this will hold the tray in closed position slightly better in line.

The steel rod will hold the tray when you swing it open. Beware that you can´t put too much weight in the tray ;-) it will tilt - also if you have not enough weight inside the box. Also the more weight you put in the tray, it will need more “force” to swing open. The washer will keep the tray apart from the box, so it will be easier to open, and also there will be less scratching sounds.
