My daughter had asked if I could print her a version of the Fullmetal Alchemist Pocket Watch. I found this incredibly detailed model available, but I had to make significant changes to make it function correctly. The original link appears to have been missing some critical items.
The first thing I did was resize everything to accommodate a 50mm diameter dome watch glass. This is the one I found on Amazon:
Next, I combined a long cylinder with the latch mechanism. I made this piece a bit longer than is necessary to give you the flexibility of cutting it on both ends at a length that works best for you. You will need a small spring for the bottom part of this within the watch itself. Since I didn't have time to find a suitable spring online, I cut one from a retractable pen and tightened the coil slightly to achieve a narrower width.
The hole in the top push button was resized for a tighter fit when glued to the top part of the latch mechanism. I also cut an opening in the ring that keeps the glass watch piece in place because the latch mechanism wouldn't go down far enough otherwise. The original design also lacked a top ring for the watch and a chain or connectors for the watch ring and belt loop. I pulled in and resized one of the chains found on this site (I don't recall which model at this point) and resized these really useful carabiners from this model, which worked incredibly well for this.

The watch face in the original model was just a blank disc, which the designer had stated as uploading that way. So, I recreated the watch face as accurately as I could based on the photo found. Printing this and the watch hands with a 0.2mm nozzle for better results is best. The pinholes in the inner ring cones don't come out well, even when I tried it with a 0.2mm nozzle. I also couldn't locate a pin skinny enough to work for them (or the watch face holes). I used the holes on the watch face to align with the cone tips and glued the watch hands.
The cover attaches to the base part where the single inserted part goes at the bottom of it. The holes easily fit a small metal paperclip to hold it. I just inserted it to get an idea as to how long it needed to be before I cut it. Once I cut the proper length of metal from the paperclip, I inserted it to hold the cover to the base and put some glue on each side of the opening. If you have a 3D pen, you could also just weld the side holes closed.
To close and latch the watch cover, push on the latch button first to allow the hooking part on the cover to easily clear the latch hook. If not, you will quickly wear the latch part and have to print a new one. The same goes for opening it and ensuring you have pressed it down far enough to clear the latch hook.
