AMS Lite Spool Adapter for 65mm+ I.D. Spools

I've tried a ton of spool adapters but they were all lacking in one way or another, so I designed my own in fusion with the features I desired:

• Not confined to a single spool size - my adapter fits any spool that has at least a 65mm center hole diameter
• Smooth, easily printable threads - most of the adapters I've tried have sharp, fine-pitch threads that take forever to spin down. On my adapter, they're smooth, rounded, and coarse.
• Low-ish profile - A lot of the adapters I tried were low profile, but the side that faces the AMS lite were often too thin to get a good grip to loosen the adapter. On my adapter, I made sure to leave enough space to have a decent grip for unscrewing, and I also put in a recess so the side that goes towards the AMS lite sits a bit closer to the body of the AMS lite.
• No sharp edges that shred your hands - This is a huge peeve of mine when it comes to things you'll be handling, and the main reason I designed a new adapter. Everything I could make smooth to touch and handle, I did.

I don't have a ton of brands to test, but like I said, this should work with any 1kg spool with a center hole diameter of at least 65mm. I can confirm it works for the common sunlu/anycubic 72mm I.D. spool, as well as the 75mm I.D. geeetech/giantarm spools. If you have a different brand that my adapter works for, a mention in the comments would be appreciated and I'll add it to the list.

There's two version available for printing; Grip and Knurled. Grip is easier to use since it has a more pronounced grip. It's also the faster print. Knurled I decided to make to see which one I'd like more. I ended up preferring the grip version, but the knurled version is done, so I figured I'd include it anyway. It does look really cool though. 😉

Also, you could use a combination of the two; I like the grip spindle and the knurled knob combo a lot.

When it comes to printing, it's best printed as in the 3mf file; the knobs get printed with the angled side facing the print bed, and the spindles get printed with the thread side facing the plate. You can enable brims if you'd like, but I haven't needed to on any of the prints I've done of the adapter.

PETG is ideal, PLA should work fine as well. I printed mine with gray anycubic (sunlu) PETG.
