Description
This model is based on a 3D scan of the Bust of Nefertiti, a masterpiece of ancient Egyptian sculpture attributed to the artist Thutmose and created around 1345 BCE. The bust portrays Nefertiti, the Great Royal Wife of Pharaoh Akhenaten, and has come to symbolize ancient ideals of beauty and craftsmanship. The scan was provided through Scan the World, a global initiative to digitally preserve and share cultural artifacts for 3D printing and education.
I began with the .stl file and imported it into Bambu Studio, where I repaired mesh geometry, cleaned up surface details, and optimized the model for slicing. To maximize print size on A1, P1, and X1 printers, I split the model into two parts at the base. This allows for taller prints without sacrificing resolution or risking stability. To minimize visible seams between the parts, I recommend using a smooth build plate for one or both parts if possible. The mating surfaces can also be sanded smooth post-printing for a cleaner join.
After printing, I used a file and fine-grit sandpaper to clean up rough areas, particularly where supports were removed, helping to preserve the sculptural detail and improve the finish.
Printed in Elegoo Marble PLA using the Generic High-Speed PLA profile.
