Description
There are a few different fidget sliders out there but this is mine. It includes 8 magnets on each sides and can be moved freely in all directions. I've also inclued several different magnet sizes so you can make it with whatever you have on hand.
I belong to the sort of people who need something to occupy their hands with. Otherwise either my mind will wander anywhere or i will indulge in bad habits like picking on my skin. Fidget toys are a great way to help the problem and i love small convenient ones, so i desined my own. It can be used in a variety of ways, one or two handed, and if fits into any pocket. Plus its a really fast and easy print.
Magnets:
I found 6x3 magnets give a good amount of resistance, but I've included files for various different magnet sizes. Simply place the in the base part south pole up in one, north pole up in the other and secure them by glueing in the inlay. Placing the parts on a metal surface (like a build plate) makes this a lot easier cause the magnets don't make each other jump around.
Build plate:
The base of the fighte can be printed on a standard textured plate for satisfying gritty friction, or a smooth plate for a softer and feel.
Base part:
This part can be printed as is, though using a smaller layer height towards the top is recommended for a smother finish (Ive already tweeked those settings for the 6x3 print profile).
Inlay:
Keeping the magnets in place, this part is also very decorative. I recommend using either textured plates or useing a fun bottom surface pattern, like Octagramm spiral, especially with multicolor filament.
Overall it's a very easy and fast print, but i love the end result. If you too often need something to occupy your hands with, give this one a try.
