Description
This model is based on The Sleeping Ariadne, a Roman Hadrianic copy of a Hellenistic sculpture from the Pergamene school (2nd century BCE). The reclining figure, long misidentified as Cleopatra, is now widely accepted to be Ariadne, shown asleep with her arm thrown over her head, draped in flowing fabric, and resting on a cushioned support. The original sculpture has influenced painters, sculptors, and poets for centuries. This scan was provided through Scan the World, a global initiative to preserve and share cultural heritage through open-source 3D printing.
I imported the .stl file into Bambu Studio, re-oriented the model for optimal slicing and stability, and leveled out the underside to optimize adhesion. I also maximized the model’s scale for A1, P1, and X1 printers.
Printed in Elegoo Marble PLA using the Generic High-Speed PLA profile. After printing, I used a file and fine-grit sandpaper to smooth out support marks, especially around the arm and base edges, to preserve the softness of the reclining pose and sculptural details.
