Description
This model is based on The Goddess of Hope by Bertel Thorvaldsen, a neoclassical sculpture influenced by classical antiquity and completed during his restoration work in the 19th century. The piece is noted for its symmetrical composition, refined drapery, and serene stillness. In her hand, the goddess holds a pomegranate flower—a classical symbol of fertility and eternal life. The scan was provided through Scan the World, a global initiative that makes cultural heritage freely available for 3D printing.
I imported the .stl file into Bambu Studio, repaired mesh geometry, and leveled the underside of the model to improve bed adhesion, ensuring a solid first layer without distortion. I re-oriented the model for upright printing and confirmed supports around critical overhangs, particularly near the flower, hands, and garment folds. I also maximized the scale for A1 printers.
Printed in Elegoo Marble PLA using the Generic High-Speed PLA profile. After printing, I used a file and fine-grit sandpaper to smooth support marks, especially around the base and lower drapery, preserving the sculpture’s clean lines and layered textures.
