Lithophane 3-Size Frame for Bambu LED Board Kit

2026/15/01 - New Frame Patterns Update!

Like the update to the CMYK frame, I'm releasing the update to my 3-Size Lithophane Frame with 5 new Frame Patterns!

You can choose from 5 geometric patterns - vertical ribs, waves, knurling, checkerboard, and pyramids!

I know it's not 10 patterns like the other one… but it's 3 times the work to make these, so I'll release a second batch with the remaining patterns later.

Everything from the other profiles is compatible, just swap the frame :D

Following my previous Lithophane Frame for Bambu CMYK LED Board design, here's the 3-size version, complete with frames for 2, 3, and 4 boards from the Board Kit, also with a modern and clean minimalistic design.

No extra hardware! Well, besides the LED boards :D

It's made for Lithophane LED Backlight Board Kit  and Make My Lithophane, and you can use both black&white (3.2mm) and color (2.5mm) lithophanes with the included spacer. The spacer is only mandatory for the color lithophanes. The lithophane sizes (without the 2mm border) are 102x152, 152x152, or 152x203.

This design features:

• A Frame that serves as the main focus. Print in any color you want.
• The Lightbox, which is a case for the LED board. Print in black to remove any light bleed from light colored frames!
• The Backplate, which serves as the lid for the lightbox, and is visible from the back only. For best results, print in black to avoid light bleed from the back or add a color change from the 3rd layer up (desired color first, then black on the inside).
• The Stand, which can be inserted from the opposite side and rotated with the thread in the backplate. Can be used in both portrait and landscape modes. Has a small indentation for cable management.
• A small Spacer for color lithophanes only.
• Very satisfying snaps and clicks!

Note: For the 4-Board frame only, there are 3 stand positions. If you feel it's not very stable, print another stand and add it to the frame.

Very easy to embed text from Bambu Studio!

Assembly instructions:

1. Place the Lightbox on a table or surface, face down
2. Insert the proper amount of LED boards (x2, x3, or x4), aligning the connectors like in the pictures, so that the middle connector is reachable but still hidden.
3. Insert the Backplate
4. Close the Lightbox by snapping the Backplate all around
5. Place the Frame on a surface, face down
6. Insert the lithophane on the desired orientation
7. Optionally for color lithophane - insert spacer
8. Insert the Lightbox and push until you hear a satisfying click on close
9. Insert the Stand in the appropriate orientation, starting from the opposite side and rotating into place
10. Connect cable
11. Enjoy!!

To disassemble, push with some force from the lithophane front while holding the frame sides to unclick open. For the lightbox, pry a corner with a spatula or something similar to leverage and snap it open.

Now for some suggestions:

• Avoid matte filaments as they are softer and the snaps might be weaker, though should work as well
• Use non-basic colors, like Galaxy, Metal or Silk for great aesthetics
• On some of my frames I printed with the bottom surface pattern Hilbert Curve, and it looks great with the PEI sheet!
