Mewtwo Pokeball (Clone Ball) (No AMS)

I designed this Mewtwo Pokeball from the first pokemon movie. It goes together quite nicely and it's a great display piece. If you have any feedback, I'd love to hear it! 

How to print:

Top and Bottom Halves:

The Top half needs supports as shown below:

You don't need to support the top of the dome. It'll print just fine without it. If you feel like you need to put the support there, then you can - after all, you know your printer best. But it's not necessary.

It should look like this with the supports. For both the top and bottom half of the dome, I used the Variable Layer Height feature and maxed out the quality towards the very top of the dome (you can see it above).

The Bottom Half only needs supports on the ‘arch’:

Again, you can put support in the center, but it's not necessary.

If you want the pokeball to stand on the bottom half, then you can make the bottom half slightly heavier than the top (increase infill or perimeters slightly).

The Center Ring

The center ring needs a lot of support. Make sure your supports break away cleanly in the slicer (adjust the Top Z Distance) if you've had trouble in the past. The cleaner they break away, the less post-processing you'll need to do.

The Top Stripes

There's no special instructions with these. No Supports needed. I used 2 perimeters, and 10% gyroid infill.

Center ‘Eye’ Piece

Thought it's not necessary, I still used Variable Layer Height here to maximize the finish quality on this piece. 

The Button

This is the final piece. No special instructions with this one. Just print it however you'd like.

Assembly:

Assembly is pretty straight forward. You just connect all the pieces together. The top and bottom halves should ‘snap’ into the center ring. For me, the halves stayed in the ring without any glue but I did go back later to glue everything together.

After attaching the top halves, you can put the stripe pieces in and then the eye piece with the button.
