Description
Hi fellow 3d printer people,
As I've mentioned before I am a Multi Skilled Mechanic / Subsea Engineer when I'm not designing stuff for you to print,
In that environment it pays to have a readily available method of checking sizes of small fittings, bolts etc. A small 6" rule is my usual pocket carry but the last job I was on I printed a few different styles of pocket callipers after seeing someone at work with one. They bought theirs online some cheap nasty mass produced injection moulded thing, did the job but just looked awful.
Some of the designs I tried again, were great but there was room for improvement,
✅<1.5hr print get yours fast!
✅ We improved slop between sliding scale and body using our own sprung hexagonal design for more face contact than other designs providing a more secure hold
✅Fine tuned tolerances to do account for different shrinkage we found between different colour PLA to find best happy medium for smooth operation without binding.
✅Sleek smooth finish to allow easy access from jeans / coverall pockets with optional keyring / lanyard loop.
✅Once initially assembled the sliding scale will not fall out like others, it takes some force to fit them but a lot of force to split them apart again.
✅An incredibly satisfying click shut that holds the sliding scale firmly in place (see gif) so satisfying I'm already annoying others at home snapping it shut all day 🤣
The ones pictured are printed in Bambu Basic Cyan, Pumpkin Orange (this had worst shrinkage) and Sunlu PLA+ Black
Of all the things I've designed so far this one for sure will be the one I use most personally and I hope you like yours!
