Description
Update: I added build plates for the Softboxes with pauses for manual color changes, allowing you to print them without AMS!
Â
Turn an LED Lamp Kit into this adorable mini studio spotlight! It makes a great little decorative lamp or a real useful light for small product photography!
Â
No additional parts required – just the LED lamp kit!
Â
This is a real little modular studio light system! It's adjustable in height and tilt. You can either use it with the default diffusor or with one of the three additional attachments: a softbox, a snout, and a honeycomb grid.
Â
The default version prints with a 3/8 Inch tripod thread. There is also a 1/4 Â Inch Bracket if you want to use with a regular tripod!
Â
Please be aware these lights are not the most powerful, but they can still be used for photography of small products like 3D printed items. In my tests, the LED Lamp Kit had a power of ~1.8W. For strength reasons I don't recommend printing this from Matte PLA!
Â
For the Tripod, I increased cooling for A series printers. If you have issues with curled overhangs, you might need to print slower or increase cooling.Â
Â
The Softbox should only be printed on PEI build plates, do not use cold plates! Let fully cool down and carefully remove by flexing / help of a spatula.
Â
Â
LED Mini Spotlight Support
I added an adapter for Maker's Supply LED Mini Spotlight. Be aware this lamp is not as bright as the LED Lamp Kit and works better without the optional add-ons (like the Softbox). The LED Mini Spotlight simply clicks into the adapter. The lamp can then be assembled as usual.
Â
Â
Assembly
Â
Before you assemble the lamp, unscrew the LED Lamp and remove the build in diffusor before you put it back together. Now simple put the lamp into the housing, make sure to route the cable through both guides. Now screw both lids on the lamp.
Â
The bracket includes two little clamps that prevent the screws from loosing if you tilt the lamp. These clamps only fit the housing in one orientation, make sure to align them correctly! Put these clamps into the bracket and attach the bracket to the lamp. Now simply secure it with the two screws.
The screws in this design should be pretty sturdy, but still try to not overtighten them! ;)
Â
I tested this design with Bambu Lab Basic PLA on A1, P1/X1 and H2D! If you find any issues, please report them and I will do my best to fix them!
