This is my take on Star Butterfly’s Royal Magic Wand from Star vs. the Forces of Evil. I watch the show with my kids, and I thought it’d be awesome to bring this iconic wand to life.
About the Wand:
The wand’s a magical heirloom from the Butterfly family, passed down to Star Butterfly at 14. It’s got a cool light purple body, white wings, and a star-shaped crystal that changes based on who’s holding it. It casts spells, makes stuff appear, or transforms things, but it’s tied to the user’s emotions—bad vibes can mess up the magic. In the show, it’s powered by a tiny millhorse (yep, a magical horse in there!) and a crystal for spell-casting. It went through some wild transformations and even got destroyed in the finale, but let’s focus on making it real!
(i had AI help me with this description since i don't know much about the show don't kill me if its wrong!!)
This one’s straightforward, with all parts designed for easy multicolor printing.
NOTE:
The handle takes a LOT of filament due to filament changes, while it looks better. it does take a lot of filament and time.
Please pay attention to this while slicing / printing to see if you want to print the AMS version or the Non AMS version for the handle.
I've been printing for about 10 years.. i know what its like to want to print a colored print but its not available to print in parts and assemble! SOoOOoOoOOoO!
I figured since this is something your kid might want.. and I love printing because it gives those of us who normally would not be able to get something the ability to have it!!
I would not feel right if i didn't split this in to parts for anyone who does not have an AMS.
BUTTT
This version’s got a tight 0.1mm tolerance, so your printer needs to be dialed in. The parts will fit, I promise (photos for proof) but keep track of them as you print, or it’ll turn into a frustrating puzzle!
Files are set to print face-down. If you’re using a textured or design plate, the parts will show that texture face-up once assembled.
Mix and Match: I had fun with this! For example, I printed the wings on a textured plate and the purple hearts on a design plate for a cool effect. The kids LOVED it.. it was a risk.. wasn't sure how it was going to be received, ha.
Be patient, especially with the no-AMS version. Check each part as you go to avoid mix-ups.
Glue is needed for some parts especially the heart and bottom gold parts and as of right now for the star as well.
There will be updates to this over the next few weeks as the kids play with it and ask me to change things, The center star has changed already and i need to test print. Im already planing on adding some LEDs and a button so the star lights up.. im REALLY new to adding things like this so its going to take a bit of learning... with that said my designs are typically "simple" this is a big step up for me, so I’d love to hear your feedback on the design!
Happy printing, and hope your kid (or you!) loves this wand as much as mine does!
