This design came from a need I had for a long time: it's hard to juggle my phone with my hand work and tools while I'm trying to film or photograph my “making of”, whether it be finalizing 3D prints, playing videogames, unboxing products or many other use cases where a standard phone holder is not helping me much.
Frustrated, I sketched a chest-worn harness with an adjustable multi-joint arm that holds my phone securely at chest height, perfectly framing my hands and work area. After a few prototypes, this lightweight, all-plastic assembly let me finally focus on creating rather than fumbling with equipment.
Why You’ll Love It
- Truly hands-free filming: Keep both hands on your project, and let your phone record everything.
- Fully adjustable angle: Dual-axis joints and thumb-screw knobs let you pivot, tilt, and lock your phone in seconds.
- All-3D-printable parts: No specialty metal brackets or springs—just PLA for rigid structure and TPU for flexible straps and phone grips.
- Customizable hardware: The design uses PLA M8 screws and TPU straps—which you can swap for your own metal bolts or fabric bands if you prefer.
What’s Included
- Chest Harness Plate (PLA): Ergonomic base with strap mounts.
- Z-Axis Fork Arm (PLA): Vertical rotation joint locked by two short M8 wheel screws.
- XY-Axis Pivot Arm (PLA): Tilts side-to-side; locked by a long M8 wheel screw.
- Tighten Wheels (×2, PLA): Thumb-knob clamps for the phone cradle.
- Left & Right Phone Holders (PLA): Adjustable sliding jaws that interlock and clamp around your device.
- Phone TPU Inserts (×2): Soft grip pads to protect your phone’s edges.
- Strap Male & Female (×4 each, TPU): Belt-style adjustable body straps, adjust to your own size
- M8 Bolt Kit (M8 screw + plastic wheels): Main shaft through the phone holders and pivot joints.
Quick Assembly
- Fit straps around your shoulders and torso, locking the studs into the belt-hole straps.
- Insert the fork arm into the chest plate and secure with the two short wheel screws.
- Mount the pivot arm inside the fork and lock with the long wheel screw.
- Slide on the left phone holder followed by the right phone holder into its rails.
- Press in the TPU inserts to cushion your phone.
- Thread the main M8 bolt through both holders and the two tighten wheels, then lock it into the pivot arm.
Now you’re ready to film your next tutorial, review, or DIY project hands-free—no extra clamps or tripods required!
