RFID Tag Holder for Third-Party Spools

This print-in-place mod lets you reuse RFID tags from your original Bambu spools with third-party filament. Cut the RFID tags off an empty Bambu spool and slide them into the print on the end with the cutout. Two adapters take 1 hour to print.

Why Another RFID Tag Model?

Other available RFID tag holders typically require multiple parts and assembly after printing. This model was specifically created to be a true print-in-place solution, eliminating any extra assembly aside from inserting the RFID tag itself. There are many good models out there, but I like to be lazy. ;)

Included Variants:

To enhance convenience and compatibility, several preconfigured build plates are available:

  • Standard Plates: Clearly labelled with different filament types (PLA, PETG, ABS, etc.) to simplify identification. Each plate contains two models, as Bambu Lab spools come with two RFID chips each.
  • Assembly Instructions: An included plate within the .3mf file has text instructions to assist with the final assembly. Please DO NOT print this plate!

Print Recommendations:

  • Material: PETG is recommended for durability and longevity of the spring mechanism, but PLA will also work.
  • Supports: Ensure supports are turned off in your slicer. This model features overhangs and prints without issue on a Bambu Lab P1S.
