The MAXi Train series crosses the ocean to land in the heart of California with a vibrant San Francisco diorama. This scene captures the iconic Golden Gate Bridge stretching across the bay, surrounded by skyscrapers and city buildings that bring the cityscape to life.

On the water below, three small boats cruise through the bay, gently moving as you turn the hand-wheel. But the real star of this diorama is the classic San Francisco cable car, circling continuously through the city streets—bringing motion and charm to this urban miniature.

Like the other entries in the series, this model combines subtle mechanics and recognizable landmarks to create an interactive tribute to one of the world’s most famous cities.

 

This new design is based on the Mini Train Collection (https://makerworld.com/de/collections/5004922-mini-train-functional-diorama) of BamBam Design (https://linktr.ee/bambamdesign). This model is 2.5X bigger than usual BamBam Design Mini Train Collection. You are free to adapt the scale if you want to make it compatible with other designs. In this case, be aware that some piece might be very small and also make sure to also apply the same ratio for magnets. Apply a 40% or 0.4 ratio to be compatible with BamBam Design Mini Train Collection.

Assembly:

 

Needed :

• 9x Round Magnet 10x5mm
• 3x Round Magnet 6x2mm

 

Steps:

 

1. Insert 3pcs magnets (10x5mm) in the trains (cable car)
2. Insert 3pcs magnets (6x2mm) in the boats
3. Insert 3pcs magnets (10x5mm) directly in the wheel. These magnets must attract the boats.
4. Insert 3pcs magnets (10x5mm) in the wheel’s pin. These magnets must attract the trains (cable car).
5. Add the wheel’s pin onto the wheel, fix the wheel to the base by pressing gently. Wheel’s pin must follow the designated path. You can use the trains or some spare magnets to prevent the wheel’s pin movements of the path while doing so.
6. Fix the terrain to the base by using pin holders dedicated. You can add a bit of glue to combine.
7. Fix others elements such as roof and bridge. You can add a bit of glue to combine.
8. Turn the wheel and have fun!
