Mario 64 - Bob-Omb Battlefield - Diorama

World 1 - Bob-Omb Battlefield, from one of the greatest (if not the greatest!) platformers of all time, Super Mario 64. Nostalgia is strong with the one, I remember the amazement of jumping into that first painting and landing here as a kid, as Mario. One of the first truly 3D platformers, what a time to be alive!

 

So here it is, fully 3d printable, to scale, with almost all the original elements intact. This was honestly an absolute slog to get through, There is ALOT that goes into this level, but I think I paid it the respect its earnt. This follows on from my previous Mario 64 Diorama of Peach's Castle and uses the same scale. Worked from the original Model, I spent the best part of 25 hours getting to this point (after giving up the first time I tried), this was the most complicated design I've done.

 

I've included build instructions below but have a variety of notes to take in before printing.

 

• When Finished it is about the size of a P1/X1 Build plate, 242x243mm.
• Its a bit over 530 grams all up and approximately 16.5 hours of print time.
• You will require Filament Cutters, Super Glue (or whatever you use), some Small Filament strips for finishing trees, the floating island and the wood posts. Tweezers or small pliers might be handy for some pieces)
• I used 11 Different colours (not including the clear for the island stand)
• AMS is only used for Chain Chomp and King Bob-Omb. Both of these also print with a Green Brim which I have intended as “stands”, they have 0.00 clearance and are designed to remain attached, let them cool before removing.
• Some pieces have very thin walls, take care when handling.
• Some pieces take some effort to get into place, however everything does fit.
