and so on up to

Sorting process

Phase One (sort by first digit):

  1. Clip the 0-4 tray to the bottom of the 5-9 tray so they number run up together. If you have more that 350 tokens then clip a second pair of trays to the side the the first pair. Add as many pairs of trays as you need.
  2. Collect the randomized tokens and sort them by their least significant ("smallest") digit. Care must be taken to not read the numbers up-side-down! Some volunteers like to see how fast the can do this job - this leads to errors.

Phase Two:

  1. Take all the “nine” tokens you just sorted and distribute them into the Phase Two tray slots. Scan all the placed tokens to make sure there are none missing.
  2. Take all the “eight” tokens and distribute them into the Phase Two tray slots. Again -  scan all the placed tokens to make sure there are none missing.
  3. Take all the “seven” tokens and distribute them into the Phase Two tray slots. Again -  scan all the placed tokens to make sure there are none missing.
Note: at some point you may discover a “missing” token. This may be because you miss-sorted a token in Phase One, especially the “zero” tokens. The other possibility is that a token has been lost. Make a note of the missing number, then carry on, you may find it later, as you go.
  4. Carry on through the sixes, fives, fours, threes, twos, ones and finally the zeros. Hopefully you found any missing tokens as you went.

Phase Three (bonus):

  1. Take each group of tokens and slide them into the alcove on the right of each slot. If there are the correct number of tokens they will fit nicely into the alcove. Too many won't fit, too few will be sloppy.
  2. Now load them onto your preferred token dispensing system like this: https://makerworld.com/en/models/1556708-parkrun-token-dispenser
