Description
Before describing the changes introduced, it is important to highlight that the new version remains compatible with previous AMS Lite 4.0 configurations. New and old S-Blocks can be used together without any issues, allowing users to upgrade their system gradually.
The only exception concerns the roller system: the new rollers are compatible exclusively with the new S-Blocks, just as the old rollers are compatible exclusively with the old S-Blocks. All other components remain fully interchangeable and compatible across different versions.
Following testing and feedback received from the community, AMS Lite 4.0 has received the following updates:
1. Updated Roller System
New system based on 623ZZ bearings, M3 screws and integrated spacers to improve precision and reliability.
2. RFID Cable Protection
A dedicated protection for the RFID cables has been added.
3. Reinforced RFID Mounting System
The S-Blocks now include integrated M3 nut slots, increasing the strength of the RFID antenna mounting system.
4. Reduced RFID Interference
The antenna layout has been modified to improve filament recognition.
5. Motor Cable Cover
A dedicated cover has been added to protect the motor cables.
6. New Top Mount System
The Top Mount has been completely redesigned using the official Bambu Lab Z-axis reinforcement.
The new structure improves overall stability and reduces vibrations transmitted to the printer.
Tutorials, images, print profiles and documentation have been updated to reflect all changes introduced in this version.
AMS Lite 4.0 was developed to improve compatibility, modularity and ease of use compared to the original AMS Lite.
Thanks to its fully modular structure, the system can be configured, expanded and customized according to individual needs while maintaining compatibility with the Bambu Lab ecosystem.
AMS Lite 4.0 has been designed to support virtually all 1 kg spools available on the market.
The system is compatible with both plastic and cardboard spools, including many wider spools that are normally incompatible with AMS systems (such as Amazon Basics spools).
Unlike the original AMS Lite, which relies on the spool's internal diameter through a spindle-based design, AMS Lite 4.0 uses a roller support system similar to that found in the latest-generation AMS units. This allows most spools to be used without dedicated adapters, regardless of the spool core diameter.
AMS Lite 4.0 introduces a completely modular structure.
The following configurations are supported:
Modules can be added, removed or replaced at any time, allowing the system to adapt to different needs. The structure also supports additional external spool holders, further expanding the available configurations.
The modules developed for AMS Lite 4.0 do not necessarily need to be used together with an AMS Lite.
Thanks to the modular design, they can also be used as a standalone spool management and support system.
The enclosure consists of interchangeable panels that allow the system to be customized.
Available modules include:
Each panel can be replaced without modifying the main structure.
AMS Lite 4.0 maintains compatibility with the original Bambu Lab RFID system.
RFID modules can be installed or removed at any time without having to disassemble or reprint the entire structure, maintaining the same flexibility as the rest of the system.
The Top Mount system allows AMS Lite 4.0 to be installed above the printer, reducing the space required on the desk.
For a visual reference of the available configurations, please refer to the model cover images.

AMS Lite 4.0 is designed to reuse the original AMS Lite hardware.
If you already own an AMS Lite, there is no need to purchase these components again, as they can be transferred directly to the new system.
If you do not own an AMS Lite, depending on the chosen configuration, spare part availability and prices in your region, purchasing individual components may be more cost-effective than purchasing a complete AMS Lite.
The required components are:
Due to the variables mentioned above, each maker is encouraged to compare both options and determine which solution is the most cost-effective for their specific situation.
To maintain automatic recognition of official Bambu Lab spools, AMS Lite 4.0 has been designed to accommodate the original RFID readers.
It is important to note that this procedure requires cutting and extending the original RFID cables. Since this is an irreversible modification, it may void the AMS Lite warranty.
For this reason, each maker can freely decide whether or not to use the RFID system based on their own needs. It should also be considered that RFID is not essential, as A1 and A1 Mini printers allow material selection directly from the touchscreen.
One of the most frequently asked questions concerns automatic spool rewinding.
Unlike the original AMS Lite, AMS Lite 4.0 does not use a dedicated mechanical rewinding system.
With current Bambu Lab firmware versions, the filament is only retracted a few centimeters during filament changes. This retraction creates enough tension to naturally rewind the filament onto the spool, keeping it properly positioned without any risk of tangling or jamming.
Before assembling AMS Lite 4.0, it is recommended to review all available resources, including the description, print profiles, tutorials and notes provided with the model.
If you encounter any issues, before leaving a review or comment, please make sure that you have followed the instructions correctly and used the appropriate print profiles.
If the problem persists, please contact me privately and include photos or videos of the issue. This allows me to provide faster and more effective support than through public comments.
The following print profiles are available:
The A1 Mini version does not yet include the 28.05.2026 updates and will be updated in the future.
These profiles are maintained for compatibility purposes, but the use of AMS Lite 4.0 is recommended.
I would like to sincerely thank everyone who has supported this project throughout the years.
Every like, download, print, boost and support message has contributed to the growth of this project.
I am not always able to reply to everyone, but I read and appreciate every contribution I receive. Many of the ideas and improvements introduced over the years were born thanks to the suggestions and experiences shared by the community.
AMS Lite 2.0 was created out of a personal need. Thanks to community feedback, AMS Lite 3.0 was developed, while AMS Lite 4.0 represents the result of years of improvements, testing and collaboration.
Thank you all for your support and for helping this project grow.
