Outdoor Ashtray / Rain-Proof Lid (Large Capacity)

Need a sturdy ashtray for outdoor use that actually lasts? Here's a functional, print-ready outdoor ashtray with a snap-fit lid designed to block rain, keep the ashes dry, and make cleanup easy. Simple, efficient and fast print.

This is an older design I made several years ago, and I’m still using one printed in PLA, left outside for over 4 years. It's still holding up well!

🛠️ Features:

• Rain-blocking lid to protect ash from moisture
• Large capacity container for extended use
• Snap-fit locking system
• Scalable: this version fits the Bambu A1 Mini, but you can upscale it as needed
• Optional: add weight (sand, coins, concrete) in the bottom chamber for more stability in windy areas 🌬️

🎨 Recommended Filaments:

• ✅ PLA – works surprisingly well for long-term outdoor use
• ✅ PETG – better for humidity and moderate heat
• ✅ ASA / ABS – ideal for long exposure to sun and weather
• ❌ Not recommended: Silk or brittle PLA blends

🖨️ Print Settings (suggested):

• Layer height: 0.28 mm
• Walls: 3
• Infill: 15–25%
• No supports needed
• Print orientation already set up in the .m3f file

🧰 Assembly:

No glue required. Just align and snap the lid onto the body. For windy conditions, drop in a bit of sand, small rocks, or coins before closing it up. It’ll sit solidly on any surface.

If you upscale the model for patio or party use, consider doubling wall thickness and adding rubber feet to the base for grip.
