Description
Universal Modular Clamp for variety purposes.
This is the 2nd version of Modular Clamp. Attachment securing mechanism is improved.
Update (26.01.10) : Grip_plate can now be secured more reliably. (Connecting grip plate to the bolt may take effort!)

You need to print two plates - "print 1" and “print 2”
- “print 1” plate consists of bolt, grip plate, and stud.
- “print 2” plate consists of clamp frames.
Select appropriate bolt from “print 1” plate and clamp_frame from “print 2” plate as the image below.
Image shows that clamp_frame (H45 D60) is selected for “print 2” plate. clamp_frame (H45 D60) means the depth is 60mm while the inner height is 45mm.
Refer to the following rule to choose appropriate bolt and clamp_frame.
When clamp_frame has inner height of H and bolt has the length of L, the clamp can cover desk/board thickness with (H - L + 3) mm ~ (H - 7) mm
Enhancing Grip
- In order to enhance the grip and prevent the clamp from slipping off, 1) printing “(mods) TPU grip” profile or 2) attaching grip tape (ex. climbing tape, electrical tape) is highly recommended to increase the friction. (refer to the image below)
- TPU grip cap or grip tape should be attached to the grip_plate and the ceiling of the clamp_frame.
- If using TPU grip cap, superglue TPU_ceiling to the ceiling of the clamp_frame.
Attachments
- Rails are engraved on the frame to secure attachments
- M3 holes on the frame are for securing attachments. Either 3D printed hex stud or M3 steel bolt&nut can be used.
- Slide in the attachment / adaptor into the rail and secure it with stud or bolt as the image below.
- For those who wish to design their own attachments, refer to the sketch below to design adaptor. Pushing/offsetting faces that contact with the frame by -0.2mm is recommended for smooth insertion.
