Boost MeIf you enjoy my models, I’d truly appreciate your support! Giving me a boost takes only a moment but means the world to me —thank you in advance! 😊

This is a complete 3D-printable system designed to help you scan and digitize developed 35mm photographic film rolls easily at home. The project includes:

  • A take-up spool, on which you wind the film for scanning
  • A tensioning module, to roll the film smoothly and keep it flat during digitizing
  • A light diffuser, specifically designed for use with a flash, ensuring even backlighting
  • The main body, which holds both the loaded film spool and the empty take-up spool. As you advance frame by frame, the film winds reliably onto the empty spool, keeping it stable and aligned for every shot.

The system makes it practical and affordable to scan your analog film with a digital camera, maintaining flatness and consistent light across frames. Each component is optimized for standard 35mm film, with tolerances tested for easy assembly and reliable film handling.
In case the tolerances do not match perfectly depending on your printer and filament, you may need to adjust the XY hole compensation parameter in your slicer. Please refer to the assembly photos included with the model for guidance, but feel free to contact me for every doubt! Lastly, a motorized version of this system is also planned for future release.

Whether you’re preserving old negatives or working with freshly developed rolls, this design can help you build a simple, repeatable home-scanning workflow without expensive commercial equipment.
