HEATFS Model For Potato Cannon

A relatively accurate model of a HEATFS (High Explosive Anti Tank Fin Stabilized) tank round, made to be fired out of a potato cannon, or any other like cannon. The six fins fold up for when it sits in the barrel, but are spring loaded to open up when launched, just like a real HEATFS round. The round fits a 52mm barrel (roughly two inch), but if it is two big just scale it down a small amount to make it fit your barrel. Although, avoid scaling it to far from it's original size, because scaling it to much can have repercussions. The inside of this HEATFS model is hollow to allow you to add weights. It prints with few supports, and on two plates. 

NOTE: You need a small rubber band for the fins to be spring loaded

INSTRUCTIONS:

This model is slightly more complicated than my other rounds, considering the way the fins spring out. Despite this, it is still a simple assembly.

 

Parts you will need:   

 

Step one: Using  one bolt, one nut, one fin, and one of the small clip pieces, assemble six fin mechanisms, according to the photo.  

 

 

Step Two: Insert the six fin assemblies into the bottom piece of the shell, as seen in the photo. 

 

 

Step Three: After inserting the six fin assemblies into the bottom part of the shell, take the small hexagonal piece and insert it, with the open part first, into the bottom of the bottom part of the shell. Be sure to press it in all the way. 

 

Step Four: The rubber band goes on the small hooks on the ends of the fins. Be sure that the rubber band is tight, or the fins might not flip out properly. 

 

After that part is assembled, and you have placed any weights you want to use in the top part, stick the top and bottom parts of the shell together, and glue them. I advise hot glue. Enjoy!
