Description
This is my first 3D model designed and printed to solve a real problem with my Jaecoo 7.
The rear shelf (parcel shelf) in the trunk often gets in the way when loading tall items. While it's removable, there's no dedicated space in the car to store it safely — it usually ends up taking up space or getting damaged.
With these simple hooks, you can now store the shelf securely on the back of the rear seats, keeping it out of the way and protecting it from damage.
Designed specifically for the Jaecoo 7, but it might work on other vehicles with similar seat spacing.
Obviously you had to print 2 hooks in order to “solve” the problem.
I printed the hooks in both PLA and PETG-CF.
While PLA is easy to print and widely used, keep in mind that it can deform inside a car during summer, when temperatures get very high. I’ve added a photo example of a PLA hook that warped after being exposed to heat inside the car — just to show the risk.
For better durability, especially in hot environments, I suggest using PETG or PETG-CF.
I personally used PETG-CF simply because it was the only PETG I had available at the moment. This required some extra setup:
This model went through several iterations. I’ve included a pic that shows the different prototypes I tested, and the nicer final version.
This process took several hours between modeling, printing, and testing to make sure the hook was strong, stable, and easy to install.
Let me know if it fits your car too — and feel free to remix it for your needs!
If you found this model useful or simply appreciate the idea, I’d be super grateful for a boost!
Your support really helps and motivates me to keep creating. 😊
