Description

I designed and built this horse-drawn fire engine model simply for the joy of it — and now I'm happy to share it with you as a 3D printable kit.

The model is designed in scale 1:22.5–1:24 and is suitable for garden railways. Printing the parts is not particularly difficult, but it’s important to ensure good bed adhesion. Most parts require support structures, so make sure to enable them in your slicer.

All the models shown in the photos and video were printed using ASA filament, which I personally prefer — it glues well with regular model glue and is highly resistant to sunlight, making it perfect for long-lasting models.
Of course, you can print the parts using other materials — just make sure you have suitable glue for them!

The model is designed to be printed even on smaller 3D printers. You’ll need four filament colors, or five if you want to print the lantern in color. But don't worry — the lantern can also be printed in a single color, and the "glass" part can simply be painted white.

⚠️ Important Notes:

This is a challenging build!
It requires manual skill and patience. The model contains 86 parts, some of them very small and delicate. Be especially careful when removing supports, as some parts can be fragile. Tweezers are a must, and dry-fitting each piece before gluing is highly recommended.

To make assembly easier, I’ve prepared a step-by-step video guide, showing the entire process in detail.

🛠️ What you’ll need:

  • Model glue
  • Tweezers
  • Sharp hobby knife
  • Sandpaper
  • Ruler
  • Small drill bit (for cleaning holes)
  • A few short pieces of filament
  • And above all... patience! 😉

🎉 Have fun building this model — and I hope it brings you as much joy as it brought me creating it!
