Description

Presenting the first of my boomerang recreations - my adaptation of ‘Ghoul’, originally by Fridolin Frost.

Disclaimer:

This model was created from publicly available plans for the boomerang, however, permission was granted by the original creator of the boomerang design for this model to be posted, so that others may download the model for free. Although I, myself, have modelled this boomerang, I do not claim that this design is mine, and I urge you all to do the same.

About this Boomerang:

This boomerang was designed for use in the ‘Trick Catch’ event in boomerang competitions, where points are awarded for successfully catching the boomerang in different ways. This also makes the boomerang great for learning throwing and catching because it has a relatively slow return flight and has a slight hover near the end, making this boomerang suitable for beginners. I've actually used this boomerang before to teach other people how to throw with reasonable success.

Printing:

Both PLA and PETG work well for this boomerang, however, PLA is more brittle and is more likely to snap from impacts and tuning. If you're slicing from the STL, I recommend at least 5 walls and 50% infill. The infill can be increased to increase the range of the boomerang, however, I've only tested one with 50% infill. I do have one with solid infill ready to test, and I will update this description with the results as soon as I have a chance to throw it.

IF YOU ARE LEFT-HANDED:

Mirror the  model before slicing, or else the boomerang won't fly with standard throwing technique!!! Don't say I didn't warn you.

Throwing:

I'm yet to make a video on throwing technique, but in the meantime, please check out this video from the very man that taught me how to throw and tune boomerangs - Roger Perry.

Further Help

If you are still struggling to get your boomerang  to return, please email [email protected] (Yes, boomerang is misspelt)

I've created this email to make it easier to keep track of who I've given advice to, as an alternative to scrolling all the way down the comments section.
