Description
This miniature model recreates the imagined workspace of Inez Lung—a pioneering Chinese American educator born in Austin, Texas, to a Chinese railroad worker. She was the first Chinese American students went to UT Austin on scholar ship. In 1928, after earning a master’s in History, Inez moved to Guangzhou to teach at Pooi To School.
For over 30 years, she taught through war and upheaval, moving from place to place with her students. Despite constant disruptions, her commitment to education never wavered. The school eventually settled in Hong Kong, where it continues today.
This model honors Inez’s resilience and legacy, bridging Austin and Guangzhou, history and hope.
The Miniature is part of my larger exhibit model. The exhibit is occurring at Austin Public Library. 3D printed model allows people to hold history in hand, connect to the stories. Check the following videos for more stories:
