Just dropped: An even smaller, 1:87 (HO Scale) Traffic Message Board!

Boost MeIf you like this design, your free Boost would really help me create more designs!

Help make your CyberBrick construction site look that much more realistic with a custom message on a 1:20th scale traffic message board! Also known as a Variable Message Sign (VMS), apparently…

4x5 Pixels per Character, 8 Characters per Row, 3 Rows. Board measures 65mm x 130mm.

Each character on the message board is composed of a 4x5 physical “pixel” array that can be configured to say any short message or extra character. Took a ton of test prints to get the fit right, but the pixels are pressed in from the front or popped out from the back.

The wheels are printed separate from the frame and are then popped on so they roll. Also included in the design are 3 little stabilizer feet to keep the whole things steady, just like a real one.

You'll need a shocking amount of pixels to write anything meaningful so I attached a 100x pixel print to get things started. Feet and extra pixels can be stored in two little bins with snap on lids. I'll admit I went a little overboard here… Enjoy!

Build note: I added some black electrical tape to the inside face of the “Board Cover” part to help give the display some more contrast. That or some patience with a sharpie would probably do the trick
