This is a housing for a 30-pin ESP32 with USB-C, an HLK-LD2450 mm wave radar sensor kit, and the sensor's Bluetooth antenna. Â The other housings I found put the radar sensor behind the ESP32, which seemed like it could cause interference. Â The foot of the other model didn't work very well either, so I decided to make my own.
- Designed for the ELEGOO ESP32 (https://a.co/d/cwva4je) and HLK-LD2450 kit (https://a.co/d/dWxw6Zg) but most 30-pin or 32-ping ESP32s should fit
- Front face design falls below the interior of the housing to help hide the USB-C connection
- Vented on the sides and back so it has air flow even when stuck flat to a wall or into a corner
- Foot is removable and clips onto the side vents
- Foot height is also adjustable so the gap can be sized properly to fit your USB cable
- Lid is a friction fit and is overlapped along the front to prevent LED light from shining through
To assemble:
- Insert the ESP32 first. Â Gently wiggle the ESP32 side-to-side to get the support fin between the ESP32's pins and the electronic components on the board and it should slide right in. Â
- Wrapping the HLK-LD2450's antenna wire over the top of the sensor, slide the tip of the Bluetooth antenna into the slot in the front with the solder blob attaching the wire facing towards the sensor. Â You won't be able to fully seat the Bluetooth antenna until the sensor is in place.
- Insert the HLK-LD2450 oriented as shown in the pictures, gently wiggling the sensor side-to-side to work the support fins around the electronic components on the sensor to get it fully seated. Â It's a snug fit. Â
- Tuck the wires into the cavity in the middle and make sure they stay in the notches on the fins so the top can close.
- (Optional) Put a dab of hot glue on the top of the ESP32 slots and on the wires in the notches to keep them from moving around.
- Push on the top. Â It should fit flush with the top edge of the housing body. Â If it doesn't, make sure your wires are staying in the support fin notches and that your boards are fully seated.
