Description
This VHS cassette inspired microSD case is the perfect retro throwback with a modern twist!
Â
This case holds 12 microSD cards and one full-size SD card/adapter. The microSD cards are held securely in an articulated tape that can be wound from reel to reel! Each reel also clicks, thanks to integrated keyboard switches, providing that satisfying tactile feedback of a real VHS cassette. The case lid snaps securely into place, and only opens if you know the secret button to press to open it, again, just like a real VHS.
Â
To assemble this case, you will need 2 mechanical keyboard switches. These switches snap into the back of each reel, and attach to the keycap posts on the back case.
Â
There are two spring mechanisms that print separately from the case. They will snap securely into place, and I suggest a dab of CA glue to help secure them if needed.
Â
The tape is labeled with R and L to indicate which reel it attaches to, and the reels have a corresponding R & L visible on the inside of the keyboard switch cavity. Make sure the tape is assembled with the open side of the microSD card slots facing the front of the reels as pictured.
Â
The Tape ends snap into place on the reels by inserting the tabs into the top of the mounting block, and gently pulling into place until you hear a click. This video (TikTok) shows how to assemble.
