Introducing: Alignment Chips – Simple, Magnetic Positioning Helpers for Your Laser Bed

If you've ever struggled to align material consistently against the honeycomb bed—only to have it shift or roll over—you’re not alone. That frustration led to the creation of this simple but effective solution: Alignment Chips.

Each chip uses three 6x3mm magnets (glued in place) to snap securely into your honeycomb’s edges, giving you repeatable, reliable alignment every time. And as a bonus? They can even serve as quick risers to help improve cut quality by lifting materials off the bed!

🔧 Key Features

  • Quick & Repeatable Alignment:
    While not a replacement for a machined jig table, these chips help you quickly square and align materials in your laser bed with much better repeatability.
  • Improved Underside Finish:
    By lifting your material about 5mm off the honeycomb, these chips reduce flashback, improving the quality of the cut surface underneath.
  • Magnetic Placement:
    The embedded magnets allow the chips to snap into position against your honeycomb, giving you fast and consistent alignment wherever you place them.

  • Align and square materials quickly with magnetic positioning.
  • Use as material risers in a pinch.
  • Can even serve as lightweight hold-downs for lighter materials (cardstock for example).

🛠️ Assembly Instructions

You’ll need:

  • Super glue (gel recommended for better control)
  • 3 magnets per chip: 6x3mm (round)

Assembly Steps:

  1. Print the chips.
  2. Add a small drop of glue into one of the outer magnet channels.
  3. Insert one magnet.
  4. Move to the next chip and repeat.
    • Allow each magnet to dry before proceeding.
    • Ensure all magnets are installed with the same polarity for proper function.
  5. Once all outer magnets are installed and dry, glue in the center magnets.
  6. Let all parts dry for at least 15 minutes before using.
