Description
This project features a custom-made bipod meant to mount onto picatinny rails. The inspiration for this project came from the realization that a decent quality bipod costs a small fortune. So, I decided to make a functional yet cost efficient design to solve my bipod needs. It features a 5-position cam and adjustable legs with rubber pads for support. These features allow you to rapidly deploy your bipod with just the push of a button.
Parts Required:
2 – M5x30 screw
4 – M5x20 screw (2 of them MUST be socket head screws)
6 – M5 Hex Nuts
2 – M3x16 screw
2 – M3 Hex Nuts
2 – 0.7x7x15mm spring
1 – Super Glue (Used to glue on TPU pads)
As listed in the required parts list, 2 of the M5x20mm screws must be socket head screws. This is because the cam system relies on the socket head to lock into place. I haven’t experimented with other kinds of screws, this is just what the system was designed with.
The assembly is very straight forward, if you can’t figure it out from the pictures, just message me and I can help.
(Note: I was having tolerance issues using different materials like nylon so I added multiple leg rod variations to account for that. If you're printing with typical filaments (i.e. PETG, PLA, etc.) then the tight fitting rod will be the best)
This project took a ton of work as I designed this from scratch with many revisions and many wasted prints. That being said, drop a comment if you liked this and want to see it improve more in the future. I’m really happy with how my final assembly turned out but I already know there’s room for improvement. Enjoy!
