Door (and hatch) opener with a pulley and counterweight system. 

 

my use case is to make sure the door stays open when it is not properly locked. A door that seems closed but isn't locked can create a dangerous situation with dogs escaping on a busy road.

 

Keeping an attic hatch open might also be a useful application.

 

Hardware needed: 

 

• 8 3.5mm screws (20 to 30 mm long)
• 1-2 m 6mm nylon rope (depending on your usecase)
• 2 M6x30 bolts (panhead or Allen bolt)
• 2 M6 nuts

 

all in A2-70 stainles steel or zinc plated steel.
