A simplistic, clean looking and at least partly abstract lamp. With inspiration from the Volvo S90(among others) awesome looking headlights, in the shape of their “Thor's hammer”, all together - interpreted into this decorative lamp.
Printing & assembly
It's an easy print, no AMS required.
No supports
There are 2 parts to the frame, a front+stand and a backplate. For the lights there is a thicker main part and a thinner part that can be used as a diffusor. I suppose you could go with just the diffusor if you prefer a very thin light part, but I preferred it a bit more rigid and also think the light came out best this way.
Print it in any color you want basically. I went with a black frame + back/stand and with the “lights” printed in PETG Transparent translucent. I have made diffusors, that are optional. In the main photos I have a white diffusor, but you can can of course chose any color you want, for example green like shown in the picture, to get a different look. You can also print the top light in one color, or the bottom in one, print it in rainbow pla, or sparkling, or silk… and so on, for different effects. I tested printing the lights with different infill to get different patterns and effects, so test away basically and remember to give photo proof of your creativity! :)
There are different ways to go about it, but I took a LED-strip and cut it to apropriate length, then used the LED-strips adhesive to fasten it to the back. I put a little bit of simple tape to hold the printed lights in place, so I can change the diffusor color if I want to. You can also squeeze the printed lights in place, or secure them with glue of course. If I had an RGB LED-strip at home, I might have gone with that to be able to get different colors (doh).
I printed on a PEI Textured plate to get a tiny roughness on the surface, but could have an interesting effect on a shiny type of plate, or why not a Bambu Lab 3D pattern type of plate!
There is a basic plate with all you need to print the one with the thick edge to the right. There is a print profile for a slimmer stand, this was the original one but I felt it wasn't well balanced enough. There is a also a prepared left lamp, if you want the left version instead, of maybe pair two of them up and put them somewhere to get the feeling that a car is heading your way. (#garage, #boysroom, #girlsroom, #mancave, #etc). ;)
Lights
There are a few options from Bambu Lab, for example the COB LED strip KA009 or the long one KA004 which needs to be cut and there are of course plenty of options on Amazon and other places, use the one you prefer basically.
Summary
Well, honestly there is not so much about it. I do hope to see some prints though and hope you enjoy!
