Description
I was looking for a door vent for my office doors as 3D printers generate a lot of heat in a confined space. Also with thick carpet the airflow under the door is not sufficient. I designed this 3D printable door vent to solve this problem. I wanted something that would snap in place and not require any screws. Similar door vents are $40 - $50 USD on Amazon!
The vents can be oriented opposite or in the same direction. Opposite for privacy where they cannot see through the vent, and the same direction will allow you to see through the vent at an angle. I also designed it to ensure the fins were rigid and didn't easily flex. It also prints with NO SUPPORTS.
You'll need to cut a hole in your door. Most interior doors are nothing more than panel board with a little cardboard and Styrofoam holding them together. Just trace the outside of the larger side and use an oscillating tool to cut through the panels on each side. It's easier to do one side first, then punch through the other side to get the outer dimensions. Once you have the hole, the parts will just snap together. My door is a standard 1 3/8 inch (35mm).
