Greek Mythology Chess Set – Gods & Myths in 3D

This custom chess set brings the legends of Greek mythology to life on the chessboard. Each piece is modeled after a figure from ancient myths:

• - King – Zeus, the ruler of Olympus, wielding his thunderbolt.
• - Queen – Hera, majestic and regal, protector of marriage and family.
• - Rook – Athena, goddess of wisdom and strategy, combined with her symbolic tower.
• - Bishop – Hermes, messenger of the gods, holding his caduceus.
• - Knight – Poseidon, god of the sea, depicted as a horse bearing his trident.
• - Pawn – Spartan Warrior, the fearless shield-bearers of Greece.

The set combines mythology with the strategy of chess, making every match feel like an epic clash of gods and mortals. Perfect for display, play, or as a unique gift for fans of history, mythology, and board games.

To complete the theme, I also designed a special chessboard inspired by ancient Greek architecture. The squares are framed with motifs reminiscent of classical temples, with ornamental column patterns and geometric details found in Hellenic art. This board was intended to serve not only as a playing surface but also as a decorative piece that ties the whole set into the grandeur of Greek heritage.

All pieces are designed with scalability in mind. They can be scaled up or down depending on the desired size. In their current scale, the models are easily printable on FDM printers, and the entire set (excluding the chessboard) can be printed even on compact machines such as the Bambu Lab A1 Mini. For the highest level of detail, especially when scaling down, resin printing is recommended.

The chessboard, however, requires a larger build volume of at least 350 × 350 mm to be printed as a single piece, making it more suitable for larger-format printers.

Unfortunately, due to ongoing maintenance of my Voron 350 printer, I wasn’t able to print the board in time for this contest submission.
