RackMod 1U Slide Module Magnetic Drawer

I created this magnetic drawer because I wanted a drawer for my Rackmod 1U but also wanted to print it face down on the textured plate to match the other pieces I printed but the handle made that not possible. So I designed a magnetic mount hidden behind the front surface to attach a handle to in order to open it and when not in use its a clean flat surface.

The magnet is located in the center of the face so its easy to ‘find’ it with the handle and the magnets are strong enough that it just snaps to it as soon as you get close.

Bonus use case is it can be used to keep something in it you don't want easy access too. You can keep the magnetic handle (AKA Key) stored somewhere else.

You can also print 3 drawers and 1 handle to open them all and maintain a clean flat look if the handle pokes out to much to close a door on your server rack cabinet.

I used 10mm x 3mm magnets off Amazon for this. 1 per drawer and 1 per handle.

Small indents are on the handle for grip.

I found 10mm magnets to be strong enough to pull the drawer open without letting go.
