Description
This stand is for a single Oral-B electric toothbrush, with space for the charger, toothbrush head, and toothbrush body. Update! I have added a stand for a toothbrush without a charger, making this fully modular. Combine units for however many toothbrushes and chargers you have.Â
Â
It is Gridfinity compatible and modular, so that the parts that are most exposed to water are easily replaceable if they get gross. It can be personalized with a variety of different patterns to choose from for the mesh insert.Â
This is designed to fit an Oral-B charger sold in Canada, for 120v power. The dimensions of the cord are roughly 3 mm x 6 mm. This may not fit Oral-B chargers sold outside Canada or the US. There are three channels for the cord, exiting from the back or sides of the bin. There is an optional notched lid variant that will allow you to run the cord out of the top of the lid. The stand for toothbrush only can be printed with or without a channel for the cord. Â
Â
The unit with charger is is 2x2x4 Gridfinity units, and without the charger is 1x2x4. These are fully compatible with Gridfinity standard baseplates. The base on this model is split into half grid units to allow for more granular positioning. If you are using magnets and a traditional Gridfinity baseplate, insert magnets in these spots to align with the baseplate magnets.Â
This model is designed in four parts for easy printing without supports, and optional multi-colour printing, with or without AMS. The pieces press together firmly but can be pulled apart for replacing or exchanging parts. The parts where the brush head and body set are likely to collect water and need to be replaced periodically, while the lid and base should last with regular cleaning.Â
Â
I have tested the clearance for these pieces only using PLA. Because this model uses very small clearances (0.05 mm) I recommend printing in PLA to ensure the pieces fit together. Print profiles with larger clearances are provided, if you find the original print profiles too tight to fit together.Â
Â
The lid prints face down, so the texture of your build plate will be on the top surface of your print. Print on a smooth build plate if you want a smooth top.Â
If you print this model in two colours the bottom of the mesh insert should match the colour of the inside of the insert with pegs.Â
If you print the main parts of the model in white, you may wish to print the inside of the inserts in a darker colour that is less likely to show dirt and staining from Serratia marcescens (the bacteria that causes pink and orange gunk in bathrooms.)
I have included three print profiles, plus three additional with larger clearances (plates have been reorganized):Â
One colour - print one plate (1-6), plus plate 7 (choose at least one object)
Â
Plate 8: No charger, with cord cut
Â
If you find the standard print profiles are too tight to fit together choose the print profiles with larger clearances. These have 0.025 mm added to the clearances between the mesh insert and insert, and between the insert and lid.Â
If you printed the original print profile and it's too tight you only need to reprint the insert and lid.
These are the print settings is use for all my Gridfinity bins:Â
To remove the lid from the unit with charger, squeeze the sides and lift off. For the unit without charger, squeeze the front and back.Â
Â
To remove the insert with pegs, evenly press from the underside of the lid. You may experience some resistance from the layer lines catching on each other.Â
Â
To remove the mesh insert, insert a tool into the mesh holes, and working around the edges, gently pry it out. It may be difficult to remove.
Â
2025-12-01: Added a new option for a single toothbrush without a charger. Added chamfer around edge of lid. Reorganized plates for some print profiles. Updated model geometry to include larger clearances rather than using XY hole compensation.
2025-09-06: Added print profiles with larger clearances.Â
