Ruger 10/22 Finger Saver

This is a tool to assist with installing the standard Ruger Bolt over the charging handle in the receiver. I created this because it's a rather fiddly process that is getting more difficult as I get older. My fingers aren't as strong as they used to be. My dexterity is also slowly fading away.

 

 

There are many suggestions on modifying the bolt or other techniques. I didn't feel like modifying the bolt, and again some of the techniques just were becoming too difficult to do.

 

The process of using the Finger Saver is as follows:

1. Insert charging handle and pull reward.
2. Insert the Finger Saver to hold the charging handle in place.
3. Drop the bolt in place.
4. Apply light downward pressure on the bolt with your thumb.
5. Roll out the Finger Saver while continuing to apply light pressure with your thumb on top of the bolt.
6. Allow the bolt to slide forward.
