Description

This model features a custom made collapsible rifle stock I designed to fit onto the buffer tube of an ar15/ar10 rifle. The inspiration for this model stemmed from the discomfort that I receive every time I use the normal M4 stock that comes standard on most rifles.  The end of the stock that sits on your shoulder/armpit is a hard plastic and it can leave bruises after shooting a lot of rounds at the range, especially with bigger calibers.  I solved this issue by introducing a 2 piece design with one of the pieces being a TPU pad that sits comfortably against your shoulder.  The squishy material absorbs the recoil while still giving the genuine authentic feel of a normal rifle stock.  It’s a great 3d printing solution that makes long term shooting more sustainable for your body.

For this design to fully function, you must either have a standard M4 stock already, or you will need to purchase an adjustment lever kit for the standard M4 stock which includes the release lever, locking pin, pin nut, spring, and slotted pin.  I’ll have a link below for the parts kit assuming you don’t already have a stock with the parts in it.

Now, if you already have the standard M4 stock with all the parts, you will need to knock out the slotted pin to be able to access the other parts required for this build.  This is a simple/standard process if you have a punch set.  If not, go to your local gunsmith and chances are they can knock out that pin for free (This is what I did).

Once you have these parts, all you need to do is print the model in your preferred material and assemble using three M5 screws along with the adjustment lever parts that I talked about above.  I thought about just gluing the two pieces together but the hardware really gives it a durable and secure feeling.  I printed the main body in PA6-GF for durability purposes and then printed the rubber pad in PLA Flexible made by Flashforge.  TPU is probably better for this part but PLA Flex is just what I had at the time.  I will be adding another print profile for the rubber pad because it’s important to print it with minimal wall loops and infill to make the pad more squishy and flexible.

NOTE: I put two different main bodies on the profile and named the plates based off of the material you want to print with.  The only difference between these parts is the diameter of the main hole.  The PA6 plate has a bigger diameter due to the nature of printing nylon.  Printing this plate will ensure it fits over the buffer tube regardless of the material but it might not be as snug of a fit if printing in other materials.  Use your best discretion and measure your buffer tube if you can.

NOTE: This profile uses my Nylon printing speeds which are very slow.  This ensures I get good quality when printing PA6.  Feel free to change speeds to whatever your printer can handle or set to the standard speeds that are used for standard printing materials

Required Parts:

2 - M5x30 Screws

1 – M5x20 Screw (can be slightly longer if needed)

3 – M5 Nuts

1 – Standard M4 stock adjustment lever parts

This was a lot of info… if you made it this far, thanks for checking out my design.  I hope you find good use from it or can share it with a friend who might be interested.  It was a personal venture I took to make my range days more enjoyable and it turned out great for me!

***Update 2/19/2026***  New Profile added for a smooth pad/spacer for the recoil pad instead of the traditional ridges.  Also has a version with no buffer tube hole for a flush look
