Description
Description: Olympic Oligarchy is a fun, not short not long board game that can play with 2-4 people. Each player represents a Greek civilization. The board game is suspended by lightning that is striking a hilly village. This model also uses filament as rain. I'd suggest using PETG blue translucent for the rain. I gave the minotaur and player's characters a cartoon feel by making them very simple, and undetailed. The cylinder temple has different options for what the centerpiece is, to allow a little bit of customization.
Assembly help: Use superglue to keep all the little houses in place, and all the parts at the bottom. Supergluing the blocks (spaces) is not necessary. The houses fit very tightly into the cloud, so you might need to squish the sides at the bottom to get them to fit. For the filament rain, the holes fit the standard filament width. Although, you need to squish the end and cut the squished end in half to fit in the holes. If you make it too small to fit, just superglue it to stay in. There is a total of 66 holes in the cloud for the rain to go in. Fill in as many as you like to get the rain affect. I put in 17. Having all the stuff in the container is a snug fit, and a little challenging to fit everything in.
God correlations: Zeus, king of gods, is represented with a lightning bolt blessing, and lightning bolt centerpiece. Athena, god of wisdom, is represented with a shield blessing, and a spear with snake-designed shields centerpiece. Ares, god of war, is represented with a helmet blessing, and a sword stabbed helmet centerpiece. Nike, goddess of victory, is represented with a wings blessing, and a wings centerpiece. Heracles (adapted to Hercules by the romans), son of Zeus, is represented with a club, and club with two pillars centerpiece.
*Warning* before you take the blocks (spaces) off of the plate, know that they are in the order of where they go on the board. I'd suggest taking them off individually from the first one to last placing each one correctly to avoid putting the wrong one in the wrong space.
Make sure to print out the rules provided to understand how to play
Story:
As the gods are ever-growing in temper, the ruling god of Olympus lifts Olympus off of the mountain and onto a stormy cloud. They travel on the cloud from village to village, striking them down with lightning, destroying every village in their rage-filled path. The Greek civilizations won't put up with this though, and so they travelled to the cloud, and they are trying to defeat the ruler of Olympus, and claim it for their civilization to rule as an oligarchy. Although, they cannot do it on their own. They need blessings from the gods to take down the ruling god. Will they successfully take down the ruler of Olympus for themselves? What civilization will come out on top?
Design process:
like most great models, it is a whole process to get from the prototype to the finished product. Please enjoy seeing the two main prototypes. Of course, to see the final one, just look at the model's pictures XD
Original prototype:
Second prototype:
Hopefully that gives you just a little peak as to the process of making models. Of course, there were many little tweaks and changes between the original, second, and final versions.
