Quick and Easy Custom Finger Splint – Stubby Edition

After the success of my original splint design, I noticed many people cutting them in half for use on thumbs or smaller finger joints (plus I also recently fractured my first DIP joint on my ring finger😅). So, I created the Stubby Edition—a shorter version made specifically for the thumb and first finger joints.

 

Like the original, it’s lightweight (about 4 grams), smooth, and easy to customize. Just print in PLA and gently heat with a hair dryer or similar tool to shape for a perfect fit. The compact design makes it more comfortable and practical when full-length support isn’t needed.

I would recommend heating and bending the side pieces inward first.

(Optional) Some adhesive foam can be applied to the inside of the splint for added comfort. 

Then the middle of the splint can be heated and bent inward on itself.
