Description

Stop tearing open your boxes and start transforming them! The Guided Box Cutter is a compact utility-knife holder that wraps the blade in a 90° guide so you can ride it along a cardboard edge for straight, controlled cuts. Hook it over the box lip, pull, and the guide keeps the blade perfectly aligned—great for neatly disassembling your used filament boxes, turning them into perfectly sized, stackable storage trays or completely flat panels for easy recycling.

What it is

  • Uses a standard trapezoid/utility blade
  • 7.5 mm blade exposure — optimized for thin cardboard (filament boxes, mailers).
  • Three securement styles included (choose based on preference):
    1. Press-fit + M3x12 screw
    2. Press-fit + M3x12 screw + M3 heat-set insert (5 mm depth, 4.5 mm OD)
    3. Press-fit only (tested: stiff enough for normal use)

Why it’s different

  • The 90° edge guide prevents wandering cuts and protects the surface below.
  • Designed for upcycling: turn filament boxes into uniform panels for storage, dividers, or craft projects.
  • Small, ergonomic body with textured grip for control.

Printing & Materials

  • For best results, use the included print profile.

Assembly

  1. Slide in a standard trapezoid blade until it seats in the channel.
  2. If using: press-fit should hold; add the M3 screw through the clamp hole.
  3. For the insert version, heat-set first, then use the M3 screw.

Use

  • Hook the guide over the edge of a box and pull steadily along the seam.
  • Best for thin cardboard. A longer-reach version for thicker boxes is coming soon.

Safety
The blade is wrapped inside the guide for safety, but it’s still a sharp tool—use with caution.
